Upholding Rugby’s Core Values

It was an honour for the Rugby School Japan (RSJ) team to host a senior delegation from the Rugby School Group, at the beginning of February 2023.

Led by Peter Green, Executive Headmaster of the Rugby School Group, the delegation was visiting Japan to engage with RSJ’s newly-appointed senior leadership team, and inspect the new RSJ campus located in Japan’s largest Smart City in Kashiwanoha Chiba prefecture.

An active programme of events also included a Principal’s Lunch for business leaders and RSJ partners at the Tokyo American Club, as well as a press conference at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan.

Mr Green said:

“After visiting the impressive Rugby School Japan campus in Kashiwanoha, I am happy to report that Mitsui Fudosan have done a fantastic job in creating a beautiful school campus that encapsulates Rugby’s ethos. I expect RSJ’s founding Principal, Tony Darby, who I have known for many years, to uphold Rugby’s core values and work hard with his team to deliver the best of British education in Japan. I am confident that that he will lead the school, its pupils, and the wider community to success.”

Mr Green was also the keynote speaker at “200 Years of Rugby” – an event hosted by six international chambers of commerce in Tokyo. He was accompanied on the Japan visit by Neil Hampton, Deputy Executive Principal and Director of International Development, Ian McIntrye.

RSJ, the first ever British boarding school in the Greater Tokyo area, is on track to open in September 2023.
